Job Description

Ongoing culinary work in private residences with leadership potential - Hiring part and full time

About Kept Kitchen Co.

Kept Kitchen Co. provides weekly or daily in-home private chef services. Our clients range from full families and new parents to busy professionals, athletes, wellness-focused individuals, and all who value delicious, nourishing food.

Our chefs prepare nourishing meals in clients' homes, managing the full process from menu planning and grocery shopping through cooking, storage, and cleanup. Every session should reflect excellence across the full experience - ingredient quality, nutrition, taste, execution, and professionalism. This position is ideal for a chef who excels in autonomy, understands the expectations of working in private homes, and loves having creative freedom in their own work.

This position will start out as part-time with the potential to ramp up to full-time as you're placed with newly onboarded clients.

Your Role & Ownership:

Menu Creation & Collaboration: Collaborate closely with clients to design creative, seasonal, and nutrient-dense menus that evolve weekly based on dietary preferences, tastes, goals, and feedback.

Quality Standards: Uphold exceptional standards across ingredient sourcing, preparation, flavor development, and presentation, ensuring every meal reflects intention, and care.

Client Relationships: Build trusted, long-term relationships with recurring clients by understanding their tastes, routines, and expectations, and delivering a consistently thoughtful experience.

Operational Excellence: Manage each session end-to-end with efficiency and friendliness, maintaining an organized workflow, respecting the home environment, and leaving kitchens spotless.

What you'll do:

  • Plan nutritious, delicious, and seasonally aligned custom weekly menus for each of your assigned clients revolving around their unique tastes, preferences, and dietary needs
  • Responsible for everything from menu planning, ingredient shopping, multi-dish preparation, plating or storing meals for refrigeration, and cleanup.
  • Build ongoing relationships with your recurring clients, maintaining flexibility and menu variation as their tastes and preferences change or evolve
  • Maintain exemplary kitchen standards and spotless cleanup with minimal footprint
  • Navigate client preferences, sensitivities, and dietary frameworks with thoughtfulness and care
  • Maintain brand standards for ingredient quality, presentation, and flavor integrity

What We're Looking For

Essential Experience:

  • 3-5+ years professional culinary experience (fine dining, private chef, or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated ability to independently execute multi-dish creation in a private home
  • Experience cooking for families, small gatherings, or intimate events
  • Proficiency in seasonal, health-conscious, and dietary-specific cooking (e.g., gluten-free, paleo, vegetarian).
  • Knowledge of basic nutrition, macro balance, and dietary frameworks
  • Experience working with high-quality ingredients in upscale environments
  • Excellent time management: able to complete prep, cook, and cleanup within each session.
  • Professional, polished presence in high-trust household environments
  • Deep understanding of food safety, allergen protocol, and sanitation standards
  • Ability to pass a background check and provide valid references
  • Commitment to long-term client retention and relationships
  • Strong professionalism and communication
  • A consistently friendly demeanor
  • Valid Oregon or Washington Food Handler Card prior to first client placement
  • A creative passion for food and the culinary arts and a love for cooking for others!

The Ideal Chef - Bonus Points if you:

  • Have networks or relationships that naturally lead to client referrals
  • Already have some level of private chef experience
  • Have experience with the standards and expectations of working in client homes
  • Aspire to grow your private chef career and play a key role in the growth of the company
  • Are interested in professional growth and leadership opportunities within the company
  • Are familiar with private chef or in-home service protocols (solo entry, security awareness, confidentiality, professionalism)

What We Offer
Competitive Compensation:

  • Competitive pay, with multiple opportunities for ongoing bonuses/additional compensation
  • $25-40/hour depending on experience + bonuses
  • Monthly recurring client referral bonus: Chefs who refer new clients will receive a recurring monthly bonus (typically $100-$300 per active client) for first six-months of the signed client engagement.

Professional Growth:

  • The opportunity to move into a chef management role, or into company leadership, helping with client acquisition, business operations, and company expansion
  • Flexible hours and scheduling that respects your time and autonomy

  • Placement with private clients and families who you will work with consistently over time

  • Direct influence over company growth and operations, refining systems, processes, and menu creation standards

Join us in setting a new standard for private chef services, where your perspective and expertise will directly shape culinary standards, client experience, and the long-term direction of the company.

To Apply: Attach your resume and a short note answering the questions: What is your background and experience as it relates to nutrition? What is your favorite nutrient-dense dish to cook?

Bonus points if you email us photos of your culinary work to

If you have a website, Instagram, or portfolio showcasing your work, we'd love to see it!
